Pan-Fried Halloumi with Lemon & Herbs

The classic — and the fastest introduction to good halloumi. A hot dry pan, a squeeze of lemon, a scatter of herbs, and EcoBites halloumi sticks are on the table in under 10 minutes. This is the base technique every other halloumi dish builds on.

Pan-fried halloumi sticks with lemon and chopped herbs in a skillet

Method

  1. 1

Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high with the olive oil.

  2. 2

Add the halloumi sticks and fry for 2–3 minutes each side until golden brown.

  3. 3

Remove from the heat and squeeze over the lemon juice — it will sizzle.

  4. 4

Scatter with the fresh herbs and a grind of black pepper.

  5. 5

Serve straight from the pan as a mezze or alongside a salad.

Tip · Halloumi is salty enough on its own — taste before adding any extra salt.
